Nagios
Nagios is a free and open-source network monitoring tool that provides me with cell phone and email alerts in the event that a network service
(server, web site, VPN router, T1 connection, mail server etc.) experiences trouble. After implementing this software, my network uptime has been
consistantly hovering around 99.97% for all services. Many thanks to the good folks at Ebeling and Associates for turning me on to this tool.
DarThon
Custom-built automated backup software for Innovative Audio using python to control the open - source compressed backup software DAR
which implements a multi-threaded, round - robin, full / incremental backup solution for data backup locally and across a network. Based
loosely on backup software that also uses DAR called saraB, this software is used in conjunction with cron and automount to pull files from
our network shares' Distributed File System every night.
Plone intranet
We're working up a Plone intranet site for Innovative audio that integrates Business Processes, forms, workflows, company-wide news, and document
sharing at Innovative. This has been a very enjoyable little project. My hat's off to the plone team for building a killer CMS.
MVBase tools
I recently wrote a bridge between the python programming language and a proprietary SQL database in use by Innovative Audio to alert me as to the status of the database logger, track usage and activity, and to
generate custom business intelligence reports using the proprietary PIC Structured Query Language.
As I'm currently learning objective-C and Cocoa, I'm thinking that it might be cool to reimplement in objective-C to make a Business Intelligence report system for OS X.
